A Day Never Forgotten

I wrote a poem when I was 17 about the events that took place on September 11th, 2001. I didn’t share this poem on 9/11 as I had originally intended, but I decided to share it today to honor our military.

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to all of our military, past and present, and especially to the veterans who are reading this right now.

Thank you for your service, thank you for risking your life for our freedom, thank you for being the true American Heroes. I respect you more than I can say!

A Day Never Forgotten

Evil was present that day in September

A dreadful day we will always remember.

Lives were lost, heroes were born.

Hearts were shattered, broken, and torn.

A nation united, we will stand tall.

You cannot break us, we will not fall.

America’s saddened by the lives that were lost

But we will fight back, no matter the cost.

Osama Bin Laden may have won this round

but America will fight until he is found!

Our heads we’ll hold high in this time of mourning.

The evil that remains, heed this warning:

Wherever you go, there we will be

Wherever you turn, our faces you’ll see

You can try to hide, you can try to fight back

We will find you, we will attack.

We do not fight for vengeance, we fight for justice.

You will pay, this you can trust us.

After the chaos, after the war.

After the heartache, after the gore

You’ll bury your loved ones with hearts full of hate,

Just like we had to, this was your fate.

The years may pass by, but this day will live on forever

September 11th, we’ll ALWAYS remember!

Beautiful poem! You can feel the angst and sadness in every word. It is obvious that it was written in that moment, for the feelings are so tenable. Save the world, kiss a vet!
