Still Motion Micropoetry

“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” – Ansel Adams.

On Wednesdays, we share photos!

I have been experimenting with black and white photography, and I have received some requests for commission, which blows my mind!

Without realizing it, I wrote micropoetry for quite a few of these photos in the captions on Instagram. I decided to challenge myself and write a short poem for every capture. With the exception of the bell, those are the lyrics from “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica, but man, those lyrics inspire me to write some dark poetry. I have never experienced war, so I can’t relate, but I can empathize, and for whatever reason, I can’t seem to let go of the desire, so I’m keeping the lyrics for that one. Maybe it will spark inspiration for you, too!

This was fun and challenging! I might have to make this a regular thing, but regardless, it is nice that my photography can inspire poetry. I only hope it will do the same for other poets. That’s the best gift anyone could give a photographer.

Which one is your favorite?

Love & life lessons,

Kristian

I’m in love with your pairings here. My favorite photo is the last one. It’s so beautiful and for some reason makes me think about the Wizard of Oz.

Taking pictures of kids is my favorite too. Being able to capture their silliness or their shyness…whatever beautiful element is present in the moment. Kids have a transparency in their facial expressions I love to capture. It’s magic!

Thank you so much for this lovely comment, Bridgette! ❤ There's something about the sky in that last photo. I had the same thought about the Wizard of Oz.

Yes, there is nothing quite like capturing the essence of a child!
