When Winter Feels Like Heartache

She dreams
and knows
somehow—
that one day
she will reach for him
and he will be there

Like sunlight
bursting through
bare tree branches
he will shine
through her
bare bones

And in the cold
dead of winter
she will reflect him
in everything
and become his light
upon the snow…

I’ve come to a point in my life where I need to make some major life altering decisions, but the direction is not clear. I’m sure I will eventually know which path to take and everything will work out, but I just feel lost right now. I also suffer from seasonal depression, so that doesn’t help matters.

Do you use a lightbox, this has been known to help.

What direction is the one that you feel is right? Finding your way after being lost as well as feeling you are lost can always be a difficult journey.

Sometimes we already know what is right, but we are worried about upsetting others and try to do what is right for them as opposed to what is right for us?

With SAD and the such, you can tell your brain to not think on it. It’s a choice we make to think that it is this and that.

If for instance you were in great shape with no worries and no concerns, that life was great that everything as far as it could be was ticketty boo, SAD would not be high on your priority of concerns. It would still be there, but you were so busy enjoying life that you would find other things for your brain to think about which is the choice.

When we feel we are lower, we grapple to find excuses why we feel the way we do and then many of our faults and flaws present themselves to us in negative ways.

So, if you can, try to not think or dwell on these things – l know you know this Kristian as l have seen you exercise this in the past.

I think deep down you do know what your direction is, but you might be afraid of taking it.

We can all do that at times, because it is easier than facing the shit and so we start to think like an ostrich.

You are a very positive soul Madam K, you’ll sort it, but remember to steer towards positivity and the belif in you 🙂

Thank you, Rory. I have a terrible habit of putting myself last, and I’m not sure why that is. My best friend, Amanda reminded me of this yesterday. She hit me with some verbal 2×4’s that were not easy to hear, but reminded me just how long I’ve been putting up with crap I shouldn’t have. The problem with certain things being brought to light is it makes me question everything I thought I knew. I want to run to what feels right, but I’m worried that it only feels right, right now because I’m in a dark place, and what if this choice isn’t the right one and I end up even more heartbroken? Sigh, I just don’t know…

Thanks for listening, and for the advice. I actually have a weekend getaway planned to visit a friend. I’m hoping the time away might help to get my mind off things, and let me relax a little. Maybe that will help be think a little more clearly.

A break away from the mundanity of everyday routine is a great way to relax and chill down, but more importantly when you are not in the box, you are able to literally think out of the box and you’ll see solutions a lot quicker than normal.

I don’t know when that break away of yours is, but make it soon 🙂

Till then, keep smiling – it’s still free 🙂
