sometimes i sit at this window
and stare at this tree
and think of the life it might have known –
the nurturing of a man’s hands
who planted its seed
and cared for it.
its roots growing
and wrapping
and grasping
much like us –
who grow the same
from nourishment.
i think of the branches
that once held tire swings
and childrens laughter
i think of the couples
who sat beneath its shade
unsure if the heat
was from their passion
or the sun.
perhaps it is why
i am drawn to trees –
they’re mysterious.
ever changing
and letting go
and beginning again.
only to draw sustenance
from the rain and snow
and provide air
and shadows for children
and adults to play under.
all I know
is like this tree –
am i.
roots twisted
firmly grasped
and wrapped up in you.
You are much like this tree.

More philosophically, I would not have been introduced to this application so quickly if it was not for you following me and liking a post. As a self hosted website, I used the WordPress app as a tool on my phone to quickly make posts, having no idea of the potential.
Perhaps you dropped a little acorn from your mighty branches.

I love trees, too! I like to think they hold wisdom. Oh the things they have seen, the generations they’ve shared years with!

Yes! I actually took some pics from my kitchen window the other day to post one of these days. I love to look up in those humongous branches!

I hope you do post them. I’d love to see the view from your kitchen! 😍😍

This is beautiful in its simplicity, imagery, and expressiveness. You hold the subject in perfected light, never wavering in the focus on your subject. Until, at the end, you take a hard turn and internalize the entire verse. Masterfully written, my friend. Now, one of my favorites!

Hey Madam K – – how are you? How’s university? How’s Hubby? How’s the sexercise, no, sorry that’s a typo [yes l could have removed it!] – my bad hahaha!! The exercise coming along 🙂
That’s it – exercise hahaha 🙂

😂🤣🤣🤣 Oh, Rory! You’re such a tease. 😉
I’m okay. Sorta in a funk, but it tends to happen this time of year. With a pandemic on top of it, I’m going a bit stir crazy. 🤪
Hubby is in the same boat.
University is going well. I’m more than halfway through the term and I have all A’s.
Exercise is coming along quite well. With the workouts I’ve been doing I’ve been averaging about a 5 mile walking distance on a daily basis!
How are things with you?

Well done Kristian with all your A’s … as they said to Hermione Granger… The Brightest Witch of Her Age … no, l am not calling you a witch … but you get the jist 🙂
l know what you mean about funk – strange that in America you spell that word so differently to us here in the UK … mm hahaha! We use it a lot here with the different spelling of course .. like funk Covid, funk lockdown, funk pandemic, it’s just a lot of annoying funk!
Well done on the exercise, see l can spell it right 🙂 we had snow here last week, nothing like some parts of scotland or the North but a lot for this far east in Kent and that slowed my walking down horribly .. but l have a treadmill now as well as my bike and um, well the treadmill is a very interesting walk indeed hahaha!!
But l started walking properly again this week and l too averaging out 5 – 6 mile walks in the morning and another 2 or so with the exercise kits. Roll on Spring l say 🙂
Let the funky times roll 🙂

Lol! I’m flattered to be compared against Hermione. 😊
Haha, there’s a lot of that other spelling that slips out of my mouth too! 🤣🤣
Thanks, and look at you, killin’ it!! 🙌
I am SO looking forward to Spring!!

This mysterious pull towards the love of trees is best explained by Kristen’s beautiful words;
all I know
is like this tree –
am i.
roots twisted
firmly grasped
