Dancing in Seconds

dancing art

I’m drenched in madness

tangled in blue

I’m walking barefoot

through icy streams

and I’m here with you

My body is crying

and screaming out

and I know you’ve built up walls

but that won’t stop me from walking

and I’ll continue to shout

Drink from this cup

let the wine your mind take

and I’ll continue walking

and shouting, and writing, and walking

Just let me be the light upon the lake

Through all of this chaos

and hatred and trembling

through all that has shifted

I still feel your rhythm

so let’s continue assembling

I count my time in music

beats of a drum, bangs of a gong

dancing in seconds, moving to you

and if you stop and listen, you will see

I have been here all along.

  1. How very personal, this poem is! πŸ˜€

I can see you wrote this one from somewhere deep. The visuals I get in my mind is of you attempting to walk upon the water, to cross an ocean on your feet, though there are many obstacles that impede you. You feel alone in the voyage, though are still needing to move onwards. You want that other person to aid you in the trial.

It’s always been said that the ocean is lonelier than the land. I see that a lot in this work.

    Well done! πŸ™‚

Wow!! You just made my day. I am currently facing what feels like an oceans worth of trials. It does feel like I’m alone at times, but I know I’m not. And I want those who feel alone to know I’m here, all they have to do is reach out and swim with me!

      Thank you again!! πŸ™πŸ™‚

Wow! That is top shelf poetry, Kristian! Stunning visuals wrapped in wonderful phrasing and subtle rhyme. It flows twirling like the dance in beautiful rhythm and pace. I love “let the wine your mind take”. A creatively metered turn of words that falls off the tongue. And the close is superbly poignant and hopeful. One of my new favorites! Bravo!
