Last Thursday I shared a poem I wrote for my youngest niece. Well, today is my eldest niece’s birthday. I cannot believe this beautiful young woman is 18. She is witty, intelligent, artistic, a bit weird, a huge nerd, funny, drop dead gorgeous, and obviously takes after her aunt! HA! I’m totally kidding, she is her own woman and I am EXTREMELY proud!! ❤
I was going to wait to share this on Thursday but I thought I would go ahead and share this today in honor of her birthday. No worries, I’ll pick something different for “Throwback Thursday.”
You are about to embark on a journey where the wanders & mysteries of life will shape you into the woman you are becoming.
I hope you never lose your child-like excitement when the spirit of Christmas is in the air.
Beautiful girl, I hope you always embrace your inner artist, nerd, & weirdo! May you always remember your roots & the hands that have guided you along the way.
I hope you always stand in awe of sunsets & shooting stars, & never lose your sense of adventure. I hope you always believe in magic & understand the beauty of love.
When the world tells you you’re too old for rainbow sprinkles & unicorns, I hope you smile because you realize you’ve held onto something precious that they lost a long time ago.
I hope you remember to make time for your loved ones BEFORE you say your final goodbye.
And when the ugliness of the world starts to fall on your shoulders, baby girl, I hope you never forget that you have the power to mold your life into something beautiful!
Happy Birthday, Gorgeous! I am so proud to be your auntie!
For my niece, Alyssa. I wrote this for her last year when she graduated high school.
Love & life lessons,
Kristian

Thank you, Sadje!! I love all of my nephews and nieces, but Alyssa and I share a special bond. We always have, since she was a baby. She’s just always wanted to be close to her auntie, and I can’t help but feel that pull too! ❤
