Throwback Thursday Poetry – Leave The World Better Than You Found It

I was thinking, why not shed some light on some of my older poems? Highlight some of my older work for my newer followers, and for my loyal followers that have been with me for a long time, you might have forgotten some of these!

I also like to look back on some of my older work, it’s nice to see how much progress I’ve made over the years!

I wrote this poem for my youngest niece, but I thought it was appropriate to share now giving that yesterday was Earth day.

A great reminder that we should always leave the Earth better than we found it!

serena & I

Serena and I, visiting an antique store in Monterey, California

Be brave enough, dear one….

To jump in the ocean,

to swim in lakes, rivers, & streams…

But ALWAYS respect the water.

Leave nothing but footprints behind.

Be bold enough, sweet one….

To stand up for what’s right, & not always what’s popular.

Make the choice, because it is a choice, a golden choice…

to ALWAYS be kind to others.

Be respectful, loved one…

To animals, ALL animals.

To nature – flowers, trees, & even concrete jungles.

To people, ALL people – your peers, your elders, & strangers.

Remember, always, beautiful one….

That sunscreen is the best makeup,

your smile is worth more than gold.

And never lose your sense of humor,

your sense of adventure,

or your care free spirit…….

Leave the world better than you found it.

Save the bees,

plant a tree,

clean up the sea.

Leave the world better than you found it,

just like how, I’m better now, than when you first found me.

For my niece, Serena.

I love the poem, Kristian! But no promises to the animals. I don’t like it when they touch me, I just freak out. Not all but to most animals.

Thank you! I have two nieces and a nephew (biologically) Another niece is being adopted on my husband’s side next month, & I have 3 nephews that are technically sons of friends, but I love them just as much. I’m a blessed auntie!!! Which is wonderful since I’m not able to have children of my own! That picture was taken back in 2007. Holy crap! 13 years ago! Serena will be 16 in May!! 😱😱 Time flies.
