Wiccan Love – A collaboration

I had the honor of collaborating with a friend and one of my favorite poets, Brad Osborne. If you haven’t checked out his blog, Commonsensiblyspeaking I strongly encourage you to do so. Brad is a brilliant writer with an exceptional talent for painting a picture with words, whether it’s through poetry, prose, or anything else. A true master of his craft.

I want to take a moment and thank Brad for working with me. In addition to being a fabulous writer, he is also a great teacher. I have learned a few things from Brad that have only helped improve my writing. He is always constructive and more importantly, inspiring.

We both hope you enjoy this poem!

Wiccan Love

A haunted night under full moon
In lover’s month, when hearts swoon
Lilts an enchanting and trancing verse
A love is captured by bewitching curse

In a cauldron stirred with jackal’s bone
As spells are cast in chanted tone
Churns such a strong and evil brew
A drink that will the mind subdue

With eye of newt and wing of bat
Sacred herbs tossed in the vat
A long-stemmed rose, a lock of hair
Conjures an elixir strong and rare

I’ll be his desire, his every whim
As, I, the obsession placed within
Do grow and burn like blackened flame
The loving chains binding manly frame

With silver pestle and mortar stone
On hallowed skin and hollow bone
In pale light of devil’s red moon
I speak the words of ancient rune

“Penitent blood and raging fire
bring to me my heart’s desire.”
“I take this wand, cast my spell
to end my lonely days in hell.”

“In his mind, plant thoughts of me.”
“My beating heart, his home to be.”
“With this magic that I brew,
vex him to feel the way I do.”

“God of thunder, lord of rain,
retrieve my love and drown his pain.”
“Eastern wind carry my siren’s tune,
bound as one beneath blood moon.”

Portent cast on embodied man
To own his mortal soul my plan
As darkening clouds form above
He’s captured by my wiccan love

Now my lust kneels next to me
And I am his only reverie
Let the words, by enchantress spoken
Cast a spell that cannot be broken

  1. Brad Osborne says:

Kristian, thank you for your kind words! Working with you was a real treat and I love where it led. If there is any justice in the world, it will find us putting our heads together again soon. Your soul and spirit are the light that shines through the words. Always yours!

Loved it! It has the cadence of a spell, too. Well done!
