30 Underrated Movies, Days 13 – 15

Wrapped up in my short story and poetry flowing through me, I have neglected my movie recommendations, so bare with me, please, as I catch up!

I agree with Mr. Elijah Wood!

In addition to my choice of underrated movie for this day, I also want to highlight an underrated actor. No, it is not Elijah Wood, I believe Justin Long is a highly underrated actor. I have liked him for years and years, but only last year did I grow to adore the man. I started listening to his podcast, “Life is Short With Justin Long,” not only is Justin hilarious, but he’s also a sweetheart! He even wrote me a private message on Instagram and he told me I was nice. It made my whole day and now I’m gushing and fangirling hardcore! He’s left comments on my photos too! Gahhh!! It just makes me love him all the more when I see him engaging with his fans. My friend, Christen and I have even started planning videos we want to take to get his attention. We’re big dorks and children at heart, trust me, we know!! Haha.

Kristian’s 13th underrated movie is:

Going The Distance (2010) Directed by Nanette Burnstein

going the distance

Going this distance is a romantic comedy that follows the lives of Garrett & Erin and their long-distance romance. Garrett lives in New York while Erin lives in San Fransisco. This movie is insanely funny. I can’t tell you how many times I almost choked on my popcorn from laughing so hard. I love this movie so much that I bought it right after watching it, knowing that I would want to watch it over again, and I have, twice. Of course, I’ll never pass on an opportunity to watch anything with Mr. Long in it!

This movie is very lighthearted but it will have you crying from laughter and it will tug at your heartstrings. I recommend watching this movie on a rainy day when your spirits are low and you need a pick-me-up. Watch with a cup of hot chocolate or any warm drink that brings comfort to your soul. This movie is the friend you didn’t know you needed.

humor

If you know me at all, whether through the blog or personally, I’m sure you have caught on that my favorite thing in the entire world is to laugh! I love to laugh, I love people who make me laugh, it’s the best!

Kristian’s 14th underrated movie is:

Four Rooms (1995) Directed by Allison Anders, Alexandre Rockwell, Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino.

four rooms

The movie takes place in a hotel on New Year’s Eve. We follow the bellhop on his first day on the job where he leads us to four rooms in the hotel. Each room has different requests, very strange requests, and each scenario was directed by someone different. This movie has quite a lot of negative reviews, and I’m not sure why. Granted, it’s not the greatest movie all time, it’s not going to impress you with spectacular imagery or leave you yearning for anything, but it’s still worth the watch. This movie has a lot of dark humor, but it is very funny. The movie is also clever, witty, and sexy. I had never even heard of this movie until one night Neil recommended it. I’m so glad he did!

I recommend saving this movie for a night when you can’t sleep or an evening when you’re bored at home. It’s a great time-waster, and it has that late-night feel to it.

I recommend pairing this movie with my favorite late-night treats. Rice Krispie Treats (homemade, of course,) and raspberry wine. I know, I’m so classy! Haha.

Humor-Dancing

In keeping with the theme of humor, my 15th choice is one of my newer favorite comedies.

Kristian’s 15th underrated movie is:

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (2009) Directed by Neal Brennan

teh goods

In an attempt to save his failing used car business, Ben Selleck hires a team of “car mercenaries,” to help him with his 4th of July event in the hopes to ramp up sales. The group is led by Don, a foul-mouthed and cocky salesman who trains the group to sell over 200 cars in 3 days, but as Don takes on his newest mission and quickly falls in love with his boss’s daughter, he realizes he will have to rely on more than his skills of deceit if he is going to be successful.

This was another movie we just happened to stumble across and soon found ourselves holding our stomachs from laughter. I wouldn’t really call this a feel-good movie, but it does have a lot of hilarious scenes.

I recommend pairing this movie with a big plate of nachos and a cold, refreshing beer.

Have you seen these movies? Did you enjoy them? What underrated movie(s) do you recommend?

Love & life lessons,

Kristian
