30 Underrated Movies, Day 9

A movie that is entirely dialogue rarely holds your attention, but that’s exactly what today’s choice does.

Kristian’s 9th Underrated film is:

The Sunset Limited (2011) Directed by Tomy Lee Jones

It only took 3 people to make this movie: Tommy Lee Jones who starred in and directed the film, Cormac McCarthy, the writer, and Samuel L. Jackson, who starred in the film.

Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson have a chance encounter. The two men, who have different ideologies discuss spiritual, philosophical, and profound subject matters in Samuel L. Jackson’s New York City

The movie is so real, the conversations are so intellectual and deep, and I hung onto every single word. It reminded me so much of conversations between my Amanda and me, only we are very like-minded individuals. You can hear the trains as they frequently pass by his kitchen window. You feel the city vibes, the movie does a great job of creating how city lights filter through the house at night. The movie is so simple, but the details are absolutely remarkable.

Oh my gosh, this movie is so, so good! I really think it’s in my top 5 favorites. I highly recommend this one. It’s just so fantastic, and now I’m drying to watch it again.

Normally I would share a trailer here, but I just watched it, and it gives a lot away, I mean A LOT! So I strongly encourage you not to watch the trailer and trust me with this one.

I recommend pairing this movie with whatever your guilty pleasure it. Mine would be a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked.

Have you seen “The Sunset Limited?” Did you enjoy it? What underrated movie(s) do you recommend?

Love & life lessons,

Kristian

One of the most unusual and powerful movies to see. It likely cost little to make and maybe that is why it was so overlooked. But the writing and acting are spot on. Great choice for your list, Kristian!
