Pockets of Wonder

magical world

When I was a child

I was obsessed with pockets

wishing I could jump through

and come out on the other side

Maybe I would enter

a magical world

where unicorns run wild

through fields of lavender

Maybe I would be a mermaid

naked and swimming

able to breathe underwater

and make friends with a flounder

If I had the power

I would burn holes in all of my pockets

and jump through the other side

to see what was waiting for me

But before I rode unicorns

or swam naked in the sea

I would grab your hand

and together we would roam free

A whimsical and fantastical idea portrayed by your beautiful verse. A powerful poem full of possibilities. A sense of wonder missing during these trying times. Thanks for putting the mermaid image in my head. I will be stuck with that for awhile. Best wishes and much love! 🧜‍♀️🦄
