My Husband Needs A Kidney

day69

My husband, Neil is in need of a live kidney donor. We have been advised by his doctor that a living donor is the best option for Neil. The success rate for living donor organs are much higher than that of cadaver organs.

The surgeon that could possibly be performing Neil’s transplant had one herself. Her husband tried to donate but was unable to because he was a carrier for kidney cancer. She spread the news far and wide of the need for a kidney and as it turned out her husband’s dentist’s sister was the one to give her a life saving kidney.

She advised us to spread the news far and wide, so I decided to write this post, and I am asking you, my beloved readers to share it. The more views we receive, the higher chances we have of finding a donor.

We also learned that the life span of a patient receiving dialysis is about ten years, and my husband has already been on dialysis for two.

If you are interested in the possibility of donating but would like to learn more information, please visit the link below:

Please note that as of now we are registered with The University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.

We are also looking into registering at UPMC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I will update you when that happens.

Please keep this in mind if you are considering donation. And as I mentioned before, please share this post. We hate asking for help, but this is literally a life or death situation. You never know who you know that might live or know someone who lives near Baltimore.

For those of you on Facebook, we have also created a Facebook page. Please follow and share that too. We will be posting updates and information about kidney disease and kidney transplants as we continue through this process.

Thank you in advance for all of your help!

Love & life lessons,

Kristian

  2. Well, my wife donated one of hers to a stranger 2 years ago this month… I don’t think my test results are good enough, not that they are bad, to donate… I really hope and pray a kidney is found very soon for Neil!

When my children were 4 and 6 years old, their father needed a kidney. I was the perfect match. Unfortunately, I have one pelvic kidney and the doctors refused to take it. He died a year later. Even 10 years would have been enough to watch his children grow into the loving, caring people they are today.

I’m sharing this, hoping there is someone who can donate or help find a donor. It is not just a gift of life to one person, but to an entire family.

My husband is also in renal failure, but due to a wide variety of health issues he cannot receive surgery, even if a kidney was available. I am sharing in the hopes it may help your husband.
