I have had a few readers reach out to me and request that I vent more on my blog, because they find it humorous.
After giving it some thought, I decided this is not a bad idea. I like to keep my subjects light around the dinner table, but sometimes; it’s good to vent and get things off of my chest, so this is where I am going to do it.
Some of these posts will be light and fun, some will be more serious, but regardless of subject matter, they are not meant to be offensive. However, so many people misunderstand comedy and take offense, so I’m sorry if that happens, but I am not holding my tongue. If you come across something that you find offensive, the solution is quite simple, just stop reading. Oh look, I’ve already mentioned two pet peeves of mine. Lol!
So while I’m here I might as well get to my first irritant:
Ya know what really burns my biscuits?
People who feel the need to express their political or religious views on posts that have nothing to do with religion or politics!!
The other day I came across a post on Facebook about a 3-year-old girl who was the only survivor in a fatal car crash. The rear facing car seat was the only thing that saved her. Both of her parents and her older sibling died. Many people were expressing their condolences, but one certified jerk commented “Vote Trump!”
I don’t know exactly what Trump or any other president for that matter has to do with this tragic loss, but it pissed me off at first, and then I just felt sad. I mean it’s so sad that there are people in this world who lack the empathy to feel bad for this little girl and wonder what is going to happen to her now that her entire family is gone, and even though she is only 3-years-old, it is a traumatizing experience for her! AND POLITICS DO NOT BELONG IN THE COMMENTS!!!!!!!!
I almost commented “How dare you!!” or something along those lines, but I thought better of it. Instead, I expressed my sincere sympathy to the remaining family members of the lives that were lost in that fatal accident, and I apologized for my fellow humans that are so insensitive they feel the need to push their political views onto a mourning family!
So what is my advice when you read something you don’t like or agree with?
Either stop reading and go about your business because a social media post has no bearing on your life, or, in a case like the above mentioned, lay on a serious guilt trip!!
Love & life lessons,
Kristian
Absolutely right.

I couldn’t agree more. Politics and religion are the worst, most divisive topics for a blogger. Whenever I encounter a political post, I try my best to not comment.

It’s hard to bite my tongue sometimes, but I always try to take the advice of Linus Vanpelt “There are three things I’ve learned never to discuss with people. Religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin!”

This is partly why I want to approve comments before they appear in my site. I have received some bizarre and highly controversial messages, and I am not happy for them to appear.

Yes, sometimes people just don’t stop to think before they comment!

There’s one particular idiot who comments on my posts and ALWAYS has to turn it into an anti-current administration rant. She bugs the stuff out of me! Keep it relevant! Couldn’t agree more.

Excellent point. I never get political. Or even serious most times. We’re here to have fun and in the case of that story, to express sympathy for the little girl and her family. Everything shouldn’t be political. In fact, most things shouldn’t be. Great post!

Thank you! Right?! I mean, if it had been a post about the president, a new tax law, or something along those lines, okay (fine by me because I wouldn’t have read the comments in the first place! Haha!) But to post something so insensitive when an entire family died, ugh, people baffle me!! I agree most things do NOT need to be political!!

Well they aren’t wrong Kristian. Your rant was entertaining, witty, and topical. No wonder they are asking for more. I loved it and fully agree! 👏

Right??? Basic human decency seems to escape some people. So frustrating.
