Hello, beautiful souls!
Although we should practice gratitude all 12 months out of the year, November tends to be that special month that all of us stop and take time to appreciate our blessings. Of course, in America, it’s the month of Thanksgiving.
Between Halloween & Thanksgiving falls my birthday, and due to this, my family often doesn’t get together on my actual day of birth, so it has become a tradition to celebrate my birthday all month long.
It all started when my best friend in Middle School moved away. She would often come up to stay with me around Halloween, we would attend parties and school dances together. She would take that first day in November to celebrate my birthday since she wouldn’t be coming back home until Christmas. My brother, whom at the time was a broke college student, would wait until he came home for Thanksgiving to give me my present. Other friends and family members would come to visit on the weekend following my birthday (depending on what day it fell) and of course, my mom always made a big to do on my actual day of birth. She joked that I’m so special people just celebrate my being born all month long. After that it sort of stuck. My brother would purposefully send my gift a few days late to extend my birthday celebration. Friends and family members started coming around on the days surrounding my birthday. Some years Thanksgiving even included a pumpkin pie and a birthday cake! How blessed am I to have so many people that want to celebrate me? I am so thankful for them!
When I started blogging I had no idea of the sense of community that comes along with it. All of you here on WordPress have been so supportive and encouraging, and because of that I also want to extend my gratitude to all of you. I have developed friendships here. One of those friends is Laura Beth, author of Hot Shot Headlines, who encouraged me to write this post and share the tradition of my month long birthday celebration.
So, my friends, I want to invite you to celebrate this birthday with me. I turn 35 on the 12th of this month, so let’s have some fun in the days leading up to my birthday!!
I am going to share a few of my favorite things with you, but I would also like you to participate! You can share your favorites with me, either in the comments, or you can create your own post, just please make sure you pingback to this post so that I don’t miss it.
Here is a list of ways you can help me celebrate:
Share with me your favorite songs, musical artists, songs that speak to you or have a special meaning. I will get to know you so much better, plus, I love music & you just might share a song I haven’t heard before. I will create a playlist after my birthday containing all of the songs that all of you share with me!! 🙂
My mother used to bake me a cake every year, and when she started getting sick she wasn’t able to make them for me anymore. I haven’t had anyone make me a birthday cake since 2012. Now I realize you aren’t able to actually bake and bring me a cake, but you can share your favorite recipes! It doesn’t have to be cake, it can be anything that you enjoy and if you have a story to go along with the recipe, please share that with me too!
I LOVE poetry, and I plan to share my favorite poems with all of you. You can share poems that other people have written, they don’t have to be famous, just poems that speak to you. It can also be a poem you have written. I’d love to read any poem that touches your heart. ❤
In addition to poetry, I also love quotes. I have many, many favorites, just like with most things. So feel free to share as many quotes as you’d like! They can be quotes from movies, songs, poems, books, etc…
I look forward to getting to know all of you better, and celebrating my birthday month with all of you!!
Love & life lessons,
