Autumn Traditions

Summer is dwindling to an end and in my neck of the woods the leaves are already starting to change color, & I can feel autumn’s chill in the air after the sun sets.

I love fall, I always have. There’s just something so cozy about it. The days are still warm but the nights are chilly enough to sit by a fire, sip hot cider, and cuddle up with my favorite snoopy pajamas!

This time of year is extremely bittersweet for me. I really miss my mom, this was our time. I get my love of traditions from her. She always made celebrations & holidays so fun, and I try so hard to keep her spirit alive by continuing those traditions. She made me promise her that I wouldn’t stop loving the holidays after she was no longer here to celebrate with me. I think somehow she knew she was going to leave this world during the holidays, and sure enough, she passed away the day after Christmas. But she loved Christmas, more than anyone I’ve ever met, so what better time for her to go?

Anyway, the end of this month was my Grandmother’s birthday, it is also Neil’s. My mom’s birthday was the 2nd of September, and of course both of these birthdays always land near Labor Day, so we would celebrate all week long!

Fall time is filled with so many celebrations, anniversaries, Halloween, my birthday, and then Thanksgiving. Then even more traditions come along as the Holidays approach. Lord, I miss that woman!!

“I’ll like you forever, I’ll love you for always, as long as I’m living your baby I’ll be.”

I am blessed with one of the best friends I could have ever asked for! Amanda understands me and knows my love for traditions, so she started not only participating in my old family traditions with me, (she may not be blood, but she is my family!) but also starting new traditions of our very own! We try to start a new tradition every single year, and this year we have decided to start something new to celebrate fall, and I cannot wait! I don’t know what it is yet, but we’ll figure it out, we always do!!

This year to kick off my favorite season and my love for traditions, I have decided to bake some cookies. (I love to bake,) and  now that the weather is getting cooler, I am going to send said cookies to my pen pals!! I’ve been lacking at sending out snail mail, so I’m going to make it up to them with some baked goods! I can’t think of a better way, can you?!

And Nova & I are kicking things off with a Fall Blog Party! It is ridiculous how excited I am for this!! We will be counting down the days to fall for a whole month. I’m taking a Hallmark spin and making this post the countdown to the countdown! Haha! Be on the  lookout for the first countdown post later this week!

I do hope you join us in our celebration!! What are some of your favorite things about fall? Do you have any fall traditions?

Love & life lessons,

Aww! We have been told we look alike, I think it’s our blue eyes, but nope. Biologically, I only have one brother, & there is definitely no mistaking us for siblings, haha! But I love Amanda like she’s a sister!

I love being a part of your family traditions, it is such a honor, and coming up with new ones of our own. Can’t wait to brain storm ideas for our new fall tradition. And Nova, what a compliment Kristian is beautiful!!! Soul sisters!

June is when most the birthdays and stuff are in my family, so it’s always a hectic month full of celebration. My favorite season, though, is spring; once you get past the tornadoes, it’s really hard to be upset when everything’s green and blooming. And the rain is lovely!

  6. I have been pining for autumn and now it’s starting to show up!! Though I’m sure it’ll be hotter than blazes here in a couple days! Crazy weather!
I see about the autumn blog celebration thing you have going on! What are the details and how do I join in? I’m thinking about it!🍁🍂

Nova & I are doing countdown posts until September 20th, and that is officially when we will be launching the blog party. You will need a password to participate in the actual party. You can email me at

In the meantime, just be on the lookout for our countdown posts, there are instructions on how to participate. Writing prompts, coloring pages, song choices, etc… if you would like, I can provide you with the links to the past ones if you would like to participate. 🙂
