Friday Favorites #6

I swear the length of time between Friday’s keeps getting shorter and shorter, however; I am happy that it is the end of the week. My energy has been drained, I’ve been in a very dark place emotionally all week, and I’ve shed so many tears that my cheeks literally sting and the skin is incredibly sensitive. I am not going to delve into those issues on here, but just know that I will be okay. I’m just feeling the lowest I have felt in a long time.

It’s going to be a self care weekend, along with some time spent with my dad because we didn’t get the opportunity to celebrate Father’s Day with him last Sunday.

So to kick off my self care weekend, I am going to share music, because music always helps. In addition to highlighting the good aspects of the week, I am also going to share a few of the things I am grateful for this week. I was inspired to do this by Brandy, author of Nova’s Namaste 365 online. If you haven’t read her blog yet, you need to. She is a beautiful soul who continues to spread warmth, light, & positivity despite the hardships she faces. She’s my kind of people!!

Top 4 Songs On Repeat This Week:

  1. I Gotcha by Joe Tex

Neil and I watched Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile the other night and there was a scene that had this song, and I was jamming to it. So I’ve been listening to it ever since! By the way, if you haven’t seen this movie yet, you need to! I have a fascination with serial killers, they baffle me, but I am intrigued. I suppose because I just can’t fathom every causing someone harm, I just can’t help but wonder how their minds work, what makes them tick. Ted Bundy, especially, he was so charming and unsuspecting, I suppose that’s why so many women were fascinated with him. Anyway, Zac Efron portrayed him really well, and James Hetfield had a cameo, which is awesome!!  I had to laugh, I told Neil I was jealous of Zac Efron because he got to meet James Hetfield, I think it would be the other way around for most women. Hahaha!

2. Alone by Heart

I’ve mentioned my love for Heart many times, I tend to listen to them mostly at work, but I have at least one or two of their songs on every playlist.

This is another sing along at the top of my lungs type of songs. I just love how Heart is so soulful!

3. Cry To Me by Marc Broussard

I can’t remember exactly how I stumbled upon this guy, but I instantly fell in love with his voice. He’s another one I now can’t get enough of. I love his song called Home, but this is the very first song I ever heard him sing. I realize it’s a cover, but he definitely does it justice.

4. I knew I Loved You by Savage Garden

I have been in a nostalgic mood lately, and I have always been a lover of Savage Garden!! This song gives me what I refer to as heart squeezes! ❤

Highlights Of The Week:

peach Peaches and raspberries. Two of my favorite fruits and I had them together with a little bit of real vanilla ice cream. So good!

peach More puppy time at work! I love animals in general, my mood is always lifted by a sweet animal.

Things I’m Grateful For:

heart1 Long, deep, heartfelt conversations.

heart1 Movie nights

heart1 Wine

heart1 Sunshine. We haven’t seen much of it lately, I’m ready to start building an ark, it’s been raining for days!

Random Loves:

So if you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I am a foodie! I love experimenting with food, trying new things, and cooking. I also enjoy watching cooking shows and tutorials, but I have always had a thing for men who can cook, and my professional chef crush is Scott Conant.

He cooks Italian food, he’s passionate about cooking, and I love watching people when they talk about their passions, how their eyes light up, their body language becomes relaxed, they get excitable. I fall in love with it. You can just tell cooking is his baby. He has a great sense of humor, he’s all about helping your fellow man and building communities, and he reminds me (just a little,) of a young Mickey Rourke! *Swoon*

Funny:

I subscribe to A YouTube channel called Bored Shorts. Oh my gosh, Kid Snippets is one of my favorites! Kids tell stories and adults reenact said stories and some of them are hilarious. This one had me rolling!!

Stay weird and great!

Love & life lessons,

Kristian

Thank you!! Hahaha!! Well I suppose we don’t have to choose, but if I did, it would be James. Not that Zac isn’t yummy, James is just more my speed, broad shoulders, tattoos, a little rough around the edges….. Pretty boys have their place in the world too though. 😀
