Today is my first day back to work after a much needed vacation! I’ll save the details of said vacation for another blog post, but I had so much fun and spent some quality time with family which is always nice.
Anyway, Sunday is Father’s Day, so this musical post is all about the first man I ever loved, my daddy!
My dad has always been a big fan of bluegrass, country, and Appalachian Music. I like SOME of the songs in these specific genres, however; I wouldn’t call myself a big fan.
One of the country artist’s I listened to the most growing up that I still have mad respect for is Johnny Cash!
He is brilliant, in my opinion, and one of my all time favorite Cash songs is Folsom Prison Blues. So once again, imagine a 5-year-old Kristian singing, in addition to Metallica, Cash’s lyrics “I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.” Hahaha!!
Another song that will always make me think of my dad is “A Boy Named Sue,”
This song still makes me chuckle.
Johnny Cash was a great musician and song writer. I’ve always been a fan of his, and he will forever remind me of my dad, so that helps too.
I like Cash’s look as well, that dark denim and black shirt has just always done something for me!
I have a colleague who dresses like that sometimes, and I always point out that he can pull of that “Cash look,” well, haha! He just laughs at me.
Anyway, here are some more of my favorites:
The Man Comes Around
Ring of Fire
This song was actually written by June Carter Cash and Merle Kilgore, but no one could have ever sang it like Johnny Cash!
I Walk The Line
My dad would play this on guitar and I would sing a long with him. Oh man, I’m going to have to have him break out his guitar this weekend so we can recreate some memories!! ❤
There is a quote by Johnny Cash that always gives me heart squeezes every time I read it. I thought I would share it with you!!
Awe!!! It’s so simple, but so incredibly sweet! Gahh!!
Love & life lessons,
