Love & The Country #20 – Favorite Things

I’ve been journaling a lot lately, and I came across one to make a list of your favorite things, and since I’m a lover of so many things, I thought I’d give this a try and see where it takes me. I’m so glad I did, because now I can’t stop smiling, and I thought I’d share them with you!

• Summer road trips with my favorite people, the music blaring, the wind in my hair, lots of laughter, singing along to our favorite songs, and meaningless conversations.
• Stargazing, counting the shooting stars, locating Mars, and finding constellations
• Getting lost in a good book
• Deep conversation where we bare our souls and learn more about each other
• Sitting on the front porch, watching a summer thunderstorm
• Autumn leaves
• Halloween
• The first drop of coffee in the morning
• Lazy, Sunday mornings
• Falling in love with my own written words
• Dancing in the kitchen
• The pull through parking spot (I hate backing up)
• Deep laughter. The kind that makes you fall out of your chair, snort, or in my case, squeal every time I try to catch my breath.
• Long lasting hugs from a loved one I haven’t seen in a long time. Christen and Brandon, especially give the best hugs, and they are typically the two I go the longest without seeing.
• Christmas lights. It’s why I leave my tree up until the end of January. I like to prolong the magic of the season as long as I can.
• Sharing jokes with my brother
• Buying gifts for people. I love getting to know people so well that when I shop for them, I find unique items that match their personality. I love making people smile.
• Baking & decorating! There’s an art to it. I love creating
• Snail mail! Both sending and receiving.
• Feeling the music. I love music in general, but I especially love music that I can feel.
• That womanly feeling I get when I walk around in a pair of stilettos.
• A comfortable pair of worn out jeans
• Chuck Taylors
• Watching old movies with Neil and Grandma
• Nerding out with people who share my fandoms. (Sherlock, Supernatural, Game of Thrones, Outlander, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Breaking Bad, Lord of The Rings, Romance novels, Marvel, Baseball, Sex and The City, Wonder Woman, Superman, Doctor Strange, Stranger Things, Funko Pops, horror movies, Stephen King, music, food, crafting, poetry, art, and astronomy.)
• Nostalgic items, TV shows, music, and the feelings they bring.
• Reliving my favorite memories.
• Making new memories I know I’ll cherish for the rest of my life
• Surprises! I love surprises!
• The rain. – Listening to it, falling asleep to the sound of it, dancing it, and simply just watching it.
• Chocolate covered strawberries
• The sound of a blues guitar
• Bright colors
• Key lime pie
• A tall glass of iced tea
• A fuzzy blanket, a pair of warm socks, and a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winters night
• The glistening of the snow as the light of the moon bounces off it.
• Sunsets and Sunrises
• The sound of the crunch of snow beneath my footsteps
• Singing at the top of my lungs without a care in the world
• Holding hands with Neil in the car
• Snuggling a puppy
• When the sun shines on the tops of ice covered trees
• The smell of scotch tape
• Wrapping presents
• The smell of old books
• Receiving a handwritten letter
• Receiving a thoughtful, sentimental email
• Flowy dresses
• Band tee shirts
• Hoodies
• My knee high, leather, high heeled boots
• Leggings and over-sized sweaters
• A cup of hot tea after a stressful day
• A long, hot shower after an intense workout
• Long, relaxing, bubble baths
• Crawling into bed, made with freshly washed linens, after shaving my legs
• Denim jackets
• VW buses
• Sliding around on linoleum in a pair of socks
• My puma sneakers
• Crab Cakes
• Cheese from Crowley in Vermont
• Water with lime
• Wine chats with Amanda
• Snap Chats from Christen – they’re always either heartfelt or extremely goofy, either way, they’re the best!
• London Fogs (The drink)
• Watching Stranger Things with Caitlyn & Paul
• Playing Cards Against Humanity
• Snapchats from Caitlyn where she sings about every day, mundane things, which I love because I do that too!
• New, fluffy pillows, and a down comforter
• A baby’s laugh
• The beach – The sand beneath my toes, the feel of the ocean, the scent of salt water, and watching the waves crash into the shore
• City lights at night
• Wolfmother – I’m currently listening to them, and it’s been a while. I had forgotten how much I love them, so I thought I’d add them to the list!

I could probably keep going, but I’ll stop here so this post doesn’t become ungodly long! I encourage you to make a list of your favorite things too! It will leave you smiling, and after worrying over a friend, this is just the pick me up I needed. I’m still worried about him, but this is a great reminder to cherish the little things!
