As many of you know I am a huge lover of Thanksgiving! The parade, the food, hanging out with family, and we sometimes end the night with a Christmas movie! I also love traditions!!
I broke tradition this year, normally we don’t do anything that revolves around Christmas until Thanksgiving night or the day after, but I have felt the spirit move me earlier than usual this year. I’m not sure if it’s the snow, the fact that I’m finally starting to get back to my old self (I even REALLY want to go shopping, and I’m not a big shopper,) or if it’s because I have felt my mom’s spirit more this year, maybe it’s a combination of all three!
This morning as I got in my car to head to work, I decided I would go ahead and program in my three go to Christmas stations on Sirius XM, and when I turned it to the “Holly” station, “Snoopy’s Christmas” by The Royal Guardsmen started to play. I shed a tear every time I hear this song now, because it was my mom’s favorite, but I also had a smile on my face at this gentle reminder that she is still with me!
I have a confession to make, today isn’t the first day I’ve broken down and listened to Christmas music, and I’ve even watched a couple Hallmark Christmas movies, but I refuse to put up my tree until the day after Thanksgiving. I enjoy the pumpkins too, so I like to extend fall as long as possible, and also, keep with tradition!
What are your holiday traditions? I’d love to hear them!
This has become one of my favorite Christmas songs, and it just wouldn’t be Christmas without hearing it. What are some of your favorites?
