Welcome back!
Today’s pick is one of my favorites!
John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982)
What is it about horror movies and snow that leave me hanging on the edge of my seat?
I don’t want to give away any spoilers from this film, but I will say the tension is excellent! I was on the edge of my seat throughout the duration of this movie. It’s just one of those movies that really knows how to build the suspension.
For those of you who have seen it, I think the best/creepiest scene was “The chest defibrillation.” I would love to hear your thoughts! What do you think?
If you haven’t seen it, you need to, pronto, stat, tonight!!
Love & life lessons,
Kristian
Never seen it. But public restrooms are scary.

Lol. I thought it a tense moment when they test the blood to see who was infected.

I remember my dad talking about this movie and the original from 1951. He described the creature as “basically, a carrot”. LOL! I will never forget that.

Bahaha!!!! I have seen the original & I cannot stop laughing!! I can assure you the creature in John Carpenter’s version definitely does not look like a carrott! Lol!!

Oh, no. I didn’t mean to imply that it looked like a carrot. He meant that the way it acted, it was like a vegetable. It was alive but, had no internal organs…
Even the synopsis from the 1951 movie says:
“Dr. Carrington researches & discovers that it is a vegetable life that reproduces like plants.”
So, my dad called it “a big carrot.” 😆

There is another well known, similar critter in the sci-fi genre/universe. Have you ever seen Farscape? Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan was an evolved, sentient plant. She was big, blue, hairless, loved sunlight & her insides were fibers, not blood vessels.

Oh wow! I have not seen Farscape.

Awesome, awesome show. Love Ben Browder & Claudia Black, both of which wound up on Stargate SG1.
