I have been on a song cover kick lately. I made a playlist on Spotify, if you are able, have a listen. These are just some (5 hours worth) of my favorites!!
For as long as I can remember, I have been in love with Sunday mornings. When I was a small child, I remember my mom telling me stories of going to visit grandma every Sunday. Apparently, she used to make the best fried chicken and apple dumplings. Unfortunately, she started getting really sick when I was around 4 or 5, so I don’t really remember her cooking, but my mom used to tell me I must have gotten my baking talent from her! I always loved going to Grandma’s though. My mom used to tell me, even as a baby, I wanted to be with her. She would put on music just so she could watch me dance, she loved watching me dance, and I loved dancing. I still do!!
As I grew, Sundays were spent at my friend Ashley’s grandma’s, Ashley, her cousins, and I would play Uno, and get into Twizzler fights. It really does hurt when you hit someone hard enough with one, they would leave welts! I wonder if Ashley remembers that! Her grandma would bring out a plethora of snacks, even though we’d tell her we weren’t hungry, and I still think her grandma had a cellar full of watermelon Koolaide, she would bring it up by the gallons, she always had it on hand.
Sundays still revolve around family, watching Football with my dad or Neil, baking cookies with Amanda, or just staying in doors and catching up on household chores. There’s just something about Sundays!
But, oh, how I love Sunday mornings! I wake up slowly, staying in bed just s few precious extra minutes. relishing in the warmth of my blankets, and holding on to my dreams for as long as possible. Just like every morning, I start out with a cup or coffee or two, or you know, the whole pot, whatever. I lounge around in my pajamas, and I just bask in the morning light. This morning I sat on the sofa, sipping coffee from my favorite mug.
I made the playlist that I shared above, and I did some journaling, well it was more of me reading previous entries and laughing at how big of a dork I am, such as
Buy a puppy and name her Tina, so in my best Napoleon Dynamite voice I can yell, “Tina, come get your food!”
I have numerous journals filled with conversations, random thoughts, story ideas, my favorite things, things that make me happy, and grocery lists. Someone is going to have a field day going through them when I am no longer here! (Should I start sharing these too?)
I love these days, where I can just take my time, I have nowhere to be, I can lounge around in leggings and an over sized tee shirt, and best of all, I don’t have to wear a bra!! Ha ha, you ladies who have been “blessed” with large breasts know this joy!! You all know how much I love my Amanda, but when she was showing me her adorable dress a couple weeks ago, she was so excited because she said she didn’t need to wear a bra with it. I , on the other hand haven’t been able to go out in public without a bra since I was 9-years-old!! Excuse me if I didn’t join in on your jumping up and down in happiness, Amanda, but they’re too big for that nonsense too. Lol. Really, I’ve bruised my ribs!
Anyway, back to my journals….
In my last post I spoke of my favorite self-discovery questions, and how I’ve decided to share some of them with you.
Here’s question 2:
What’s something about you that most people would be surprised to learn?
- I had to think about this one, I’d say if you don’t know me well, you’d probably be surprised to learn there’s a bit of a country girl in here. Yes, you read that right, the girl that loves books and coffee, comfy blankets and movies, flowy skirts and makeup, her, she also very much enjoys off road Jeepin’ and getting muddy, stargazing and bonfires, and fishing! Yes, this gal, loves to fish!! I actually really want to go deep sea fishing, it’s a bucket list item.
- Some people are also surprised to learn that I’m a sports fan. Huge! I am the girl wearing her Steelers jersey on Sundays, shouting at the refs, the players, and whoever will listen, because you know, I obviously know more about football than the refs and coaches (Yes, that’s sarcasm,) I can’t help it. I get so caught up in the moment, and I’m a very passionate person, so I have to let that out. It will either amuse you or scare you, possibly both. Lol! It’s not just football. I’m like this with any sport I watch. If you really want to see me riled up just say “Jose Batista.” I’ll go ballistic!!
What about you? What’s something I’d be surprised to learn about you?
Love & life lessons,
