Love and the Country #4 Kristian’s Dream Destinations

I want to take a quick moment for those who are new to my blog, because I’ve had so many new followers recently.

For those of you who are new, Welcome! My name is Kristian, pronounced Kristin, and I’m so happy you’re here! Follow along with Love and the Country for adventure, insight, and friendships. This is where I bare my soul.

For the rest of you, as always, thank you so much for reading, I love you all!

Yesterday, my husband surprised me with boxes full of snacks, tea, soft drinks, jams, desserts, and vinegar from Britain. I am a huge Britophile, and when asked if I could go anywhere in the world, Britain is almost always my response.

All of this talk of traveling, and getting to experience a few British staples without even leaving my home has my desire to travel burning more than ever! I am a lover of many things, and there is so much in the world I want to see and do, so many people I want to meet, so many lives I want to touch. I managed to compile a small enough list to share with all of you now, but just like me, it’s subject to change at any time! Ha ha.

1,) The National Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC

I have visited this museum before, however; I was a child at the time, and even then I felt that I didn’t get to spend enough time here. I could literally spend an entire day here, I’ve spent hours just on the website. Oh, this has me geeking out so much, right now! It’s only a 3 hour drive away, so I really need to make the time to go. I also want to go to the Einstein Planetarium!! I love learning about our universe!!

2.) Falling Water – Frank Lloyd Wright, Mill Run, Penssylvania

This is also not very far from where I live, and I can’t believe I have yet to visit it. I love architecture, especially Frank Lloyd Wright, for his very unique designs!!

3,) The Museum of Modern Art, Manhattan, New York

The original “The Starry Night,” by Vincent Van Gough is here. It’s my favorite painting of all time, and has been for as far back as I can remember. I just know that seeing the original painting that Van Gough, himself, painted will bring tears to my eyes! This is just an absolute must!!

4.) The Westfjords, Northern, Iceland

To contradict my original statement, if you were to ask me right now if I could go anywhere in the world, it would be here! Rated the best place in the world to see the aurora borealis, why would I not choose here?  I can’t imagine seeing the northern lights in person, oh gosh, it would be utterly breathtaking, and I live for the moments that take my breath away!

5.) Cambridge Sculpture Trail Cambridge, England

Speaking of architecture, wow!!! There’s three trails full of it, and I want to walk all of them! I will never understand why people choose to go to dinner and a movie for their first date when you can explore places like this! It’s great conversation pieces, and it can allow for more in depth conversations, but then again, I’ve never been one for small talk.

6.) Raglan Castle, Monmouth, Wales

I have always been taken with castles, they are so old and I love learning the history behind them, especially in medieval cultures! This castle is absolutely beautiful, and I’ve also always wanted to visit Wales!

7.) London, England

Yep! That’s right…London…all of it! I want to experience all of it! It’s such a beautiful city!!

8.) Salisbury Cathedral, Salisbury, England

This Cathedral is so breathtakingly beautiful, and I have a feeling that pictures don’t do it justice. Of course, while I’m in Salisbury I would also see Stonehenge.

9. Whale Watching, Bar Harbor, Maine

Another breathtaking moment! I’ve wanted to go to coastal Maine since I’ve heard that the sky melts into the ocean at night and you can’t tell where the sky ends and the ocean begins. I could watch that all night, and listen to the waves! Someone, please take me away!!

10.) Stargazing, Mauna Kea Observatory, Mauna Kea, Hawaii

Being the night owl that I am, one of my absolute favorite things to do is sit outside at night, and gaze up at the stars. There’s something so peaceful and freeing, it kind of brings into perspective just how small we are. This would be absolutely amazing, do yourself a favor, look through the photo album!! I’m so in love with the sky!

11.) Tuscany, Italy

No link, just stare at that picture, do you really need to read a reason why I want to go here? I want to sit in a chair, eat cheese, drink wine, and take in that view! Oh gosh, it’s hard to tear my eyes away from the screen. It would be hard to leave if I could experience the beauty of Tuscany in person!

I have been to Sequoia National Forrest in Kernville, California, but I would really like to go back. I’m not sure why exactly, but the older I get the more fascinated I become by tees! Maybe it’s because they are so old!!513116114

I could keep going, but I will stop here for now, but stay tuned for more, and maybe I’ll get to cross some of these off the list one day!

Stay tuned for the next adventure!!

Really? I’m not sure which one I want to do more, it was hard enough to narrow everything down to just this list! Were you surprised by any of the destinations? I know you knew London made it!!

      • Yes, I have been to the air and space museum several times and while it is very cool, it’s not as good as a clear fall night on the coast of Maine drinking a cold Moxie just looking at the stars after eating a big lobster dinner. No where really surprised me on the list, but I figured New York would have been on there too.
