The Book Nut did another awesome book tag!
Here’s the link to their original post:
The Basics:
For each question I will be giving both song and book that go with the question. They don’t have to go together, but sometimes they may.
Let us begin!
My Jam: A song you have to listen to no matter how many times you’ve heard it and a book that you’ll never get sick of…
Song: This is so hard. I have so many! The first thing that popped into my head was “Fool in the Rain” by Led Zeppelin.
Book: “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens.
—
Throwback: A song that reminds you of the cringeiest time in your life and a book you read that you would wouldn’t like if you read it now…
Song: “Patience” by Guns and Roses. I’m angry that my ex ruined this song for me, but to this day I just can’t listen to it.
Book: “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” by Steig Larsson. I feel that I should mention that the book itself is not bad, however; I didn’t get too far in the book before I had to stop reading it because it made me think too much about my past.
—
Replay: A recent song that you have on repeat and a recent favorite book…
Song: “Say Something” by Justin Timberlake ft. Chris Stapelton
Book:I have been reading some classic books that I haven’t read yet, but I am looking forward to “Every Breath” by Nicholas Sparks, which releases this October! I am behind, I need to read “Two by Two” and “See me.”
—
Gets Me: A song that is literally me and a book that is me in book form…
Song: “Let it Be” by the Beatles. This has become my mantra. I cannot control the world or the bad things that happen, but I can control how I react to those situations. I WILL be a light in the darkness. I refuse to succumb to the darkness that surrounds me.
Book: Ugh. This one. So unbelievably difficult.
If I had to pick just one, I’d pick “Harriet the Spy” by Louise Fitzhugh. I too, dreamed of being a famous author as a child (I still do) and I also kept a diary about friends, etc… only mine wasn’t secret, but Harriett reminded me so much of myself as a child.
—
WUT: A weird song that you liked anyways and a unique book that stuck out to you for some reason…
Song: “I Ain’t Got No Home” by Clarence “Frogman” Henry. My Grandma Batman bought me a cassette for Christmas and this song was on it. We laughed and laughed listening to it. The quirky song still makes me think of her!
Book: “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. I had to read this book in the 7th grade, and I had to write a book report on it. I loved the book then, and I still do today. It’s one of those books that really gets you thinking, and wondering “what if.” It was written for young adults, but as I mentioned, I still very much enjoy this story.

Let’s Go: Pick your best pump up song and a book that inspires you…
Song: I have to agree with Laura Beth (no surprise there, soul sister!) “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars.
Book: “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. Although, Chrissy Metz who plays Kate on the show “This is Us” has released a book titled “This is Me.” I have a feeling it will be my new inspirational novel. I really like her. I can’t wait to read it!
—
Chill: Your best chill or relaxing song and a book you’d curl up with on a rainy day…
Song: “Gravity” by John Mayer or “Fjogur Piano” by Sigur Ros.
Book: Anything by Nicholas Sparks.
—
Addicting: A guilty pleasure song and a light, trashy read you can’t help but love…
Song: “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips or “Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon.
Book: “The Twilight Trilogy” by Stephanie Meyer. (I know, I know! “Don’t judge me, monkey!”) I wouldn’t call the series trashy, but I have always had a love for Vampires, I couldn’t not read the books!
—
Nostalgia: A throwback song you look back on fondly and a book you read and loved when you were young…
Song: “To Be With You” by Mr. Big. Oh, this song makes me think of my childhood best friend, Ashley and I. We would belt out the words to this song, every time we heard it. Especially on the school bus, we didn’t care that everybody was listening.
Book: I agree once again, with Laura Beth. The entire Baby-Sitters Club and Baby-Sitters Little Sister series, by Ann M. Martin. I loved these books! I think I owned all of them! I also have to mention all of the Goosebumps collection by R.L. Stein. I owned most, if not all of those too!

Yesh, it was fun to do! It’s been a good day. I had a short work day after a 3 day weekend, so I can’t complain. 🙂

I loved your answers! I need to catch up with our friend Sparks. I’m way behind. I also love the songs you picked – Say Something, Let It Be, Hold On, and Can’t Fight This Feeling. Thanks for participating!

I am too. I’m thinking of buying them. We are going to Baltimore in a couple of weeks. Neil has an entire day of Doctors appointments, so I will have down time. I am tempted to buy This is Me too though. *Sigh* So many books, so little time!
