Laura Beth at  HOT SHOT HEADLINES  tagged me for this awesome book tag. As most of you know I love doing tags. Here is the link to her post:

Reading on the bed or the couch?

My couch, I battle with insomnia, so I try not to use my bed for anything other than sleep, and well…ya know 😉

I also love to sit out on my front porch and read, but it’s been a long time since I’ve done that. Mosquitoes tend to love me, and I hate getting bit. I have a bad reaction to them and will end up with huge welts all over my arms and feet, because this time of year I’m ALWAYS in sandals or barefoot. I really want to screen in my porch, that will become my favorite place to read if we’re able to make that happen!

Male main character or female main character?

Both. I used to find myself drawn to female protagonists, but I enjoy a male’s point of view too. It really depends on the story, I guess.

Sweet snacks or salty snacks when you’re reading?

I generally don’t eat while I read, because I don’t want to get anything greasy on the pages, but if I do I like pistachios. I do enjoy sipping a cuppa while I read though!

Trilogies or quartets?

Trilogies, but if a series is really good I’ll read quartets too. Like Laura Beth, lately I’ve been reading more stand alone books.

First person POV or third person POV?

Both.

It really depends on the subject. If it’s done correctly, I do enjoy third person POV, because if there’s more than one main character, you gain insight into each of the characters emotions and reactions, where as first person POV is mainly just his or her feelings, emotions, and reactions.

Reading at night or in the morning?

I read at night.

On weekends though, I’ll read anytime, and on vacations I’ll read morning, noon, and night!

Libraries or bookstores?

Both!

There are certain authors, where I’ll just buy the book or know I’m going to receive it as a present, but I like to borrow books I’m interested in from a library, and if I fall in love with the book, I’ll go out and buy it to add to my collection!

I love browsing both libraries and book stores though, I could spend hours in either. I love it!

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Again, both!

This once again, depends on the story. I don’t want to read a book that’s so depressing I cry all the way through it. I like books that put me on an emotional roller coaster! If a book is really well written I put myself in the characters shoes and am able to feel what they are feeling. Those are the best!

Black book covers or white book covers?

It doesn’t matter, honestly. I care much more about what is on the inside, and once I’m done with the book, it goes right back on the bookshelf anyway.

Character driven or plot driven?

Once again, both!

I need the book to be somewhat character driven, because I identify more with characters than with situations, but if the plot is good, you can hook me that way too! I think it really depends on the genre, if it’s romance, definitely character. If it’s horror, definitely plot! Again though, I have to at least identify a little bit with the character, and I need to know what drives him or her in order for that to happen.

I tag:

Anyone who wants to this! I’m sorry, I know I’m bad at tagging people, but Laura Beth is one whom I usually tag and she tagged me. Plus, others that I typically tag haven’t been blogging a whole lot, so I’ll just leave it open to anyone who wants to do it!

Love & life lessons,

Kristian

  1. Wonderful answers! I also try not to read in bed for the exact same reasons. I could be completely exhausted and still not be able to fall asleep…it’s such a brutal feeling. So…I feel as though I shouldn’t associate my bed with reading time haha!
