April and I sat on the wall that ran along the boardwalk in Ocean City, not caring that the concrete was so cold we could barely feel the backs of our legs. We watched the last two visible stars twinkle in the night sky as the sun started to slowly light up the ocean. The dancing waves sounded like thunder until they crashed into the shore. The wind off the ocean blew our hair, and we inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of salt water, then exhaling the most relaxing sigh we have felt in months. We watched as the two stars started to fade as the sun started to light up the entire sky. The reflection of the sun’s rays sparkled on the water while shades of pink and orange streaked the lower portion of the sky. April and I sat silently, taking in the majestic beauty that we were witnessing. We savored every single second, allowing ourselves to sit on that wall for just a while longer. Although, we missed our homes and families, we knew that the next time we came to the ocean would not be soon enough. We both crave the beach, the feel of the sand between our toes, the smell of salt water, the beauty of the waves, the warmth of the sun. Time seems to have a way of going by too quickly. We started to walk back to our hotel, when we reached the end of the boardwalk we turned around for one last look. “Goodbye Ocean, until next time!”
We have already started planning our next vacation!
